Firstly, thank you for taking your time to visit From Kamo K. I’ve been working on this for a while now and I’m so excited (and nervous) to finally launch it! Before we go any further, this is a promise to you and I to put my heart and soul into creating and to do so with utmost sincerity. There will be a separate post on what to expect from this space, but for now, let’s just break the ice!
You’d think that after the countless times I’ve been given the task to describe myself in a couple of short sentences, I’d be an expert by now. But describing yourself can be one of the hardest things, no matter how many times you do it. Why? Because each day you change, and you find out something new about yourself.
Let’s switch it up. I’m not going to describe the me I think I am, but rather, the me I want to be. Imagine walking down a hallway, past the full length mirror. You stop. Glance. Walk closer to the mirror. And you examine the reflection. What do you see?
Here’s what I see.
I see a friend who tells no lies. A true reflection of the girl standing before her. Calm. Competent. Same black hair, same baby-face.
She still possesses traits reminiscent of her youth. Quiet, out of reservedness. Observant before acting. She still holds on tight to her camera, for she uses it not to take photos, but to make images. She is a still lover of learning and sharing through visuals, words and language.
But there’s this….thing about her. Ah yes. Fearlessness. Unafraid to try and fail. Unafraid to share ideas and be told that they are rubbish. Nothing was ever a problem in her eyes. She has finally accepted that people and possessions come and go. When in doubt, she whispers the words from her favourite song, “today is jealous of tomorrow”.
What do you see?
I challenge you to try describing the you you want to be.
Once again, thank you so much for reading. Looking forward to sharing more with you.
